Established in 2004, DIFC is one of the most trusted and internationally recognised financial centres in the world.
For DFSA-regulated activities, issued across five capital tiers depending on scope — from deposit-taking and asset management to advisory, arranging, and Islamic finance. Requires DFSA approval and a full regulatory business plan before issuance.
For legal, consulting, technology, and corporate administration businesses that support the financial ecosystem without touching regulated activity. Issued through the DIFC Registrar faster and simpler than the DFSA route.
A reduced-cost, non-regulated license built for startups and fintech, AI, and Web3 ventures. Comes with flexible co-working access through the DIFC Innovation Hub and a capped visa allocation suited to early-stage teams.
For restaurants, cafés, galleries, and professional services operating within DIFC's retail spaces, serving the district's daily workforce and residential community.
Submit an Initial Approval application through the DIFC portal, covering your proposed entity, business activities, source of funding, and the individuals who will control or serve as officers of the company. This is the gateway step, nothing else proceeds until it's granted.
Choose your operating space within DIFC co-working, flexi-desk, or a fitted office based on your license type and headcount. A registered DIFC address is mandatory before registration can be finalised.
Reserve your preferred trade name through the portal ahead of full registration, so it's locked in before you submit your formation documents.
Create your portal user profile, complete the entity registration form with your legal structure, activities, and shareholder details, and submit supporting documents, including passport copies and constitutional documents.
Once DIFC Registry Services reviews your submission, typically within about five working days for straightforward applications, you'll receive your certificate of incorporation and commercial license after fees are settled.
With your license in hand, proceed to banking and employee visa applications through the standard UAE process.
DIFC's shared coworking space is available to Innovation License holders, with visa allocation included and access to the wider Innovation Hub community.
