Types of Licenses Offered

01

Financial Services License

02

Non-Financial (Ancillary) License

For legal, consulting, technology, and corporate administration businesses that support the financial ecosystem without touching regulated activity. Issued through the DIFC Registrar faster and simpler than the DFSA route.

03

A reduced-cost, non-regulated license built for startups and fintech, AI, and Web3 ventures. Comes with flexible co-working access through the DIFC Innovation Hub and a capped visa allocation suited to early-stage teams.

04

Retail License

For restaurants, cafés, galleries, and professional services operating within DIFC's retail spaces, serving the district's daily workforce and residential community.

Registration Process

How to Setup a Business in DIFC Free Zone

01

Get In-Principle Approval

Submit an Initial Approval application through the DIFC portal, covering your proposed entity, business activities, source of funding, and the individuals who will control or serve as officers of the company. This is the gateway step, nothing else proceeds until it's granted.

02

Secure Your Registered Address

Choose your operating space within DIFC co-working, flexi-desk, or a fitted office based on your license type and headcount. A registered DIFC address is mandatory before registration can be finalised.

03

Reserve Your Company Name

Reserve your preferred trade name through the portal ahead of full registration, so it's locked in before you submit your formation documents.

04

Register on the DIFC Client Portal

Create your portal user profile, complete the entity registration form with your legal structure, activities, and shareholder details, and submit supporting documents, including passport copies and constitutional documents.

05

Complete Registration and Pay Fees

Once DIFC Registry Services reviews your submission, typically within about five working days for straightforward applications, you'll receive your certificate of incorporation and commercial license after fees are settled.

06

Open Your Corporate Bank Account and Apply for Visas

With your license in hand, proceed to banking and employee visa applications through the standard UAE process.
